This is one of the oldest prints of the Russian monastery of Panteleimonos or Rossikon. It is from a book by Mary Adelaide Walker called Through Macedonia to the Albanian Lakes published in 1864. The image is partially correct but also imaginary because the artist gives the impression that Mt. Athos is directly above the monastery. But the church in the middle of the image is still there, as the terrace walls near the seaside. A lot more buildings are added during the following years but fires destroyed some parts again. This is how it looks now (2015) with the summit of Mt. Athos on the right and the church on the left.
