On our trip to Timiou Stavrou we made a short stop at Karakalou, and I could say hello to the Dutch monk Pachomios, who we met last year when we slept in the monastery. We found Pachomios working in the garden.
A warm welcome from Pachomios and the monk from Finland (who’s name I forgot) 26/12: His name is Father Prodromos, thanks Bart and Jan Paul for remembering).
The entrance to the church, with a new mural in the ceiling of the roof of the portico (below).
The large bell, taken from the Timiou Stavrou kelli, before it would collapse under its weight.
The square in front of the entrance of the monastery with two houses
And then we continued our hike to Timiou Stavrou. Two days later we returned to this monastery and slept the night over, because we had change plans because of the bad weather and skip our wish to climb the mountain.
Wim, 25/12
