This is Preobrazhenie monastery /Holy Transfiguration monastery / near the town Veliko Tarnovo in Bulgaria. This is very valuable and interesting photo, because it is before the big earthquake in 1913 year….the monastery is a part from Tarnovo Holy Mountain, consisting more of 20 monasteryes in 14-th cen. and that ‘s the reason about the inscription says “Greetings from Holy Mountain”

  1. George says:

Father Simeon was the first ever Priestmonk I met from the Holy Mountain while I was still a child in Australia. Truly a great man. I always try and visit his hermitage every time I pass it on the way to Stavronikita.

  2. unknown says:

Könnte es sich um das Josapheon in der Skiti Kafsokalyvia handeln? Heute und auch vor 20 Jahren sah es anders aus. Doch das Bild scheint mir sehr alt.

  3. Vasílis says:

Because of the Greek text it has to be as suggested before and I don’t think it is the same building as on the Katounákia-picture.

  4. Rainer Ludwig says:

Bild 2: Kellion Daniileon in Katounakia

Greetings from Bulgaria and God Bless You !

  6. Vasílis says:

Above the mentioned Greek text on the picture You may even read the word Εργαστήριον (studio, workshop, atelier). The next Greek word is unreadable for me on the picture

  7. Giannis says:

    Εργαστήριον Αγιογραφίας Αδελφότητος Ιωασαφαίων

  8. Vasílis says:

    Of course, Gianni, ευχαριστώ!

  9. Cecilia Egues says:

George, I am Cecilia Egues. I met Father Simeon when I lived in Lima, Peru before he left for a long trip. I really would like to get in touch with him, again. If you know where can I write him a letter or email, could you please so kind to let me know. Thanks
