When I saw this kid leaving the Holy Mountain `(sept. 2009) I was wondering what the minimum age is for entering Mount Athos. I read about a time when “beardless youths” were not welcome.
According to Nick it is still illegal but generally if they behave well and they are accompanied by their father they will allow it.

For the last fifteen years or so there has been a laxity in enforcing this rule when it applies to Greek kids. Generally they are well behaved and accompanied by their father or relative but it is still illegal.
