The tower seen in the photo is the harbour of Koutloumousiou Monastery, in Kaliagra, one of the few Athonite natural docking places, near the site of an ancient Greek town. It was functioning as a harbour for Karyes, Mt. Athos governing town, since 10th century. The tower, attached to a jetty, is depended to Koutloumousiou Monastery. Stavronikita Monastery and Mt. Pangeon are visible in the background.
