425 – A trip to Athos in 2007 (day 1 – nr 2)

After your arrival in Dafni (appr. 12.00 h.) you have three possibilities: eather you start walking, in most cases in the direction of Simonos Petras or Panteleimon, or you will take the touringcar to Dafni. The third possibility is to take the boat to Skiti Ag. Anna, that leaves at 13.15 h. 123_athos_2007_dafni

The boat will follow the route along the NW-coast toward the huge mountain that lies and the end of the peninsula, most of the time covered in mist and clouds.

The first monastery you’ll see is one of one of the most beautifull of all on Athos, Simonos Petras (the rock of Simon),:

The next monastery is Grigoriou; I will show a picture of the harbour, a detail of the building (with laundry of a monk!) and a two images of the monastery.
