115 – Bread in Prodromou


In 2007 we climbed to the top of Mount Athos.  We started at Kavsokalivia and ended the hike at Paulou. It took us 12 hours but it was worth it. It is important that you have enough food if you make such an effort. The day before when we walked from Lavra to Kavsokalivia and we stopped at Skiti Podromou where a young friendly Romanian monk showed us the bakery and gave us large chunks of fresh bread. When we climbed the mountain we were very happy with this because it was our main food source on the trip. The delicious bread of Prodromou.
