29 – Astronomers on the top in 1410


Astronomers at the top of Mount Athos. Four astronomers study the night sky with quadrants and astrolabes. In the foreground, three men with sticks are tracing inscriptions which give the impression of a secret script or one of the foreign alphabets mentioned by Mandeville
